Cycling Without Age picks up Momentum in the East

Excitement this week for BIKEast with two major milestones in our Cycling Without Age journey!

Successful Woollahra Grant

Frank Dreyer and Adrian Boss from BIKEast accept the grant from Woollahra Mayor Peter Cavanagh.

Firstly, BIKEast were awarded a Woollahra Community & Cultural Grant to support us in growing and sharing the warmth and joy of the Cycling Without Age initiative in the Sydney Eastern Suburbs.

Pictured with the Mayor are Frank Dreyer and Adrian Boss, part of the team who have been working hard on this project.

The funding from Woollahra Council has been provided on the condition that matched funding is sourced to purchase the trishaw and that it is available for access by a range of seniors from different care homes as well as the broader community.

Please contact us if you can provide assistance with supporting / funding / sponsoring this project.

Montefiore launch

Also this week, Montefiore became the first Sydney Eastern Suburbs partner for Cycling Without Age, a worldwide program that teams aged care residents with volunteer ‘pilots’ to rediscover the freedom of riding in specially designed trishaws.

We brought the initiative to Montefiore’s attention and we were able to source a generous anonymous donor for the trishaw.  We will also provide a willing roster of volunteer pilots who will help to make rides through nearby Centennial Park and surrounding neighbourhood a regular part of the Montefiore Leisure & Lifestyle program.

Keep in the loop

BIKEast’s goal is to get active 3 trishaws in the Sydney Eastern Suburbs.
