Bus Drivers and Bike Riders lunch

On Saturday 26 May, BIKeast and Port Botany Bus Depot organised a Saturday lunch event so that bus drivers and bike riders could meet up and share their experiences.

The Port Botany Bus Depot is the second largest bus depot in Australia, with over 400 staff.

Blanka from BIKEast first made a connection with Port Botany Bus Depot when she contacted them to discuss an upsetting incident.   This contact quickly turned into a conversation about how to increase communication and shared experiences between bus drivers and bike riders.

There were over 30 bike riders and 20 bus drivers who spent the afternoon chatting about their perspectives, including on-road experiences and locations of blind spots.

Bicycle NSW and the Amy Gillett Foundation, strong advocates of Minimum Passing Distance legislation were also in attendance to support the event.

We look forward to these events happening again in the future.
