Bicycle Infrastructure Network Audit

BIKEast are currently working on a systematic audit of key routes, highlighting network deficiencies that limit legal access for people on bicycles.

We will be working to identify the lack of connectivity and amenity in the system – where bicycle facilities are provided, they should connect to other facilities so that cyclists are not required to break the law in order to complete their journey.

An example of lacking connectivity is a shared bicycle / pedestrian path that links to an on-road bicycle lane which has a zebra crossing (pedestrian only) as the linkage.

Or an intersection on a major cycle route with traffic lights signals that do not register bicycles.

We will be carrying out these audits for Randwick, Botany, Waverley, Woollahra and also working with the other Bicycle User Groups in Sydney (eg. AshBUG, Bike Leichhardt) to do the same for other areas around Sydney.
