The Sydney metro was originally set to open on Sun 8 Aug, but was postponed to Mon 19 Aug 2024.
We had some time on Sun 25 Aug and managed to check out the Metro – esp the bike parking.
We also checked out Sydenham Metro station and International / Domestic airport link.
How to access NSW bike sheds
Anyone can access Transport for NSW bike parking sheds by creating an account and linking their opal Card at this website – https://bikelocker.transport.nsw.gov.au/. Once this is done, you’ll have access to all NSW bike sheds.

Pros
The facility is beautiful
An absolutely high class facility with good access.
Lift and ramp access
Great to see lift AND ramp options. Saving lift use for those who really need it.
Bike parking on middle level
Door stays open
Very happy to see the door to the bike parking shed stays open – saving the effort of holding a heavy door open WHILST manouvering a heavy bicycle.
Cons
Not designed for a diverse set of bikes including ebikes and cargo bikes
Yvonne found that her bike only fit by going forward into a Reverse Park spot.
There wasn’t enough clearance to go forward in a forward spot,
or reverse into a reverse spot.
Waterloo Metro bike shed – lack of height clearance
It takes a bit of effort to pull down the top racks
Yvonne actually thought it was stuck, but contacted station staff for help and realised it was just a little bit of effort. Not sure if this is just because it’s new, but if you are using it, you’ll need a bit of effort.
