Path decals for speed mitigation (no bad bollards)

BIKEast do *not* support barriers, squeeze points, or any other narrowing or obstructive devices as speed mitigation factors.

These would have severe negative consequences on vulnerable path users such as people with strollers, vision impairment, disabilities, and mobility devices.

If speed mitigation is required, we support path decals as outlined in the ACT guidelines, currently used in NSW on Airport Drive and around the M7.

Why BIKEast do not support bollards

The purpose of bollards are to prevent motor vehicle access to paths and prevent damage to infrastructure.

Bollards and chicanes discriminate against those with diverse mobility requirements, for example those in wheelchairs, walking with trailers and prams and those with larger bicycles (cargo bicycles carrying children), e-bikes, tricycles.
