The list introduction outlines limitations and etiquette of the list.
Do your own lobbying!
Do you live in the Eastern Suburbs, or elsewhere in Sydney? If so, why not use these links to find the politicians who are paid to represent you:
Councillors
State MPs
- Peter Debnam (Vaucluse)
- Paul Pearce (Coogee)
- Michael Daley (Maroubra)
- Clover Moore (Bligh)
Commonwealth MPs
- Malcolm Turnbull (Wentworth)
- Peter Garrett (Kingsford Smith)
- Tanya Plibersek (Sydney)
Waverley Council also has precinct committees. Talking to your local committee is a great way to raise community awareness and support for cycling facilities.
Phone them, or send a fax, letter or email today. Explain what it's like for you as a cyclist on Sydney's roads. Tell them you want bike routes, bike parking and other cycling facilities, and you want them now!
Report defective facilities!
BIKEast are working hard to keep the Councils honest on their commitments to providing new bicycle infrastructure, but it is also important to ensure that they are looking after existing infrastructure. You can help by filling out a defect report when you notice a problem and either take direct action, or inform BIKEast.
Stick it to 'em!
Ever ridden on one of our rare and hard-won bike lanes, only to find your way blocked by a parked car? Tired of cars parked across the footpath along your favourite jogging route? Or parked across footpath ramps, forcing you to dismount or jump the kerb?
And have you ever tried to get the police or council traffic officers to book one of these offending vehicles? Sure, all of the above are prohibited under the NSW Road Rules, but you wouldn't know it by looking around the Eastern Suburbs!
Well here's your answer - give the motorist a friendly little reminder to be a bit more considerate next time. Each of these Word documents is designed to be printed on an A4 page of 24 labels (8 x 3, with each label 3.6cm x 7cm, eg “Unistat” brand, reorder code 38933).
